Walter Fajet is a proud, lifelong resident of Miami Springs and a dedicated member of our community. Since 2020, he has humbly served on the City Council, always striving to make our city an even better place to live.
Walter’s roots run deep in Miami Springs. He attended Springview Elementary, Miami Springs Junior High, and graduated from Miami Springs Senior High School. As an educator with nearly 30 years of experience, he has served as a Language Arts/Reading teacher and Reading Coach at Miami Springs Senior High and later as an Instructional Supervisor for Language Arts with Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Currently, Walter is honored to be the Middle/High School Principal at AIE Charter School, right here in our city.
Walter’s connection to Miami Springs goes beyond his professional life. In his youth, he played soccer and little league baseball in Miami Springs. Throughout his formative years, he was a parishioner at Grace Lutheran Church. As an adolescent, he was senior patrol leader of Boy Scout Troop 425. As an adult, he has been a civic-minded contributor to this community, serving on the Educational Advisory board for the city, as an elected official on the Miami Springs City Council since 2020, and giving his time to service as a member of the Hialeah-Miami Springs Rotary Club.
Walter is blessed with the support of his wife, Adriana, their 18-year-old son, Nicolas, and their four beloved rescue dogs: Nacho, Lola, Bella, and Dulce. Together, they cherish the beauty and warmth of our city.
My policy platform is rooted in a deep commitment to the City of Miami Springs and the best interests of ALL its residents. As your Mayor, I promise to:
Increase Police funding to ensure they are properly staffed and equipped to address speeding and excessive traffic on our city streets, and combat crime and threats to public safety.
Continue fighting to lower the millage rate, as I have staunchly advocated for every year, since being elected to the city council.
Protect and expand our tree canopy, ensuring that we become a Tree City USA once again, and every year going forward.
Halt the expansion of the Overlay District and take a “wait & see approach” in order to assess the impact of growth and development in the Central Business District.
Promote commercial investment and sensible economic development along the N.W. 36th Street Business Corridor.
Implement a comprehensive plan to address the current parking problem in the central business district.
Push for Code Enforcement that is more proactive, and focuses primarily on the things that negatively impact the aesthetics and property values in our neighborhoods.
Secure additional funding for elderly services in order to offset recent state budget cuts and preserve the activities, services, and amenities offered at the Senior Center.
